Home Assistant and it's developers work tirelessly to provide a way for devices from multiple brands to truly work together, and Home Assistant is by far the most polished yet customizable attempt so far. A lot of users leaving bad reviews don't seem to understand that this isn't (yet) meant to be a turnkey solution. It's a toolbox for the power user to tinker with their smart home and dial it in exactly the way they want it, which may require some work and light coding along the way.

This app is a real pain to use. For example it might be working fine, then I briefly connect via a VPN, then go back to the previous wifi, and app stops working. Despite being on the same network as couple seconds ago, when it was working. It simply shows "page is not available". While in the browser it is fine for the whole time. I don't know what it does behind the scenes, but it is broken. When using SSL it is better though.

Seriously sick and tired of constant app updates that break everything and I have to take several hours to first get it to reconnect to the server when nothing at all has changed on the server end and then reconfigure all the cards and the dashboard. Have to write and/or edit code to get anything approaching what you want. NOT user-friendly.
