About this app

NetGuard is an internet security app, which offers simple and advanced ways to restrict apps' access to the internet.

Applications and addresses can individually be allowed or denied access to your Wi-Fi and/or mobile connection. Root permissions are not required.

Blocking access to the internet can help:

• reduce your data usage
• save your battery
• increase your privacy

Features:

• Simple to use
• No root required
• 100% open source
• No calling home
• No tracking or analytics
• No advertisements
• Actively developed and supported
• Android 5.1 and later supported
• IPv4/IPv6 TCP/UDP supported
• Tethering supported
• Optionally allow when screen on
• Optionally block when roaming
• Optionally block system applications
• Optionally notify when an application accesses the internet
• Optionally record network usage per application per address
• Material design theme with light and dark theme

PRO features:

• Log all outgoing traffic; search and filter access attempts; export PCAP files to analyze traffic
• Allow/block individual addresses per application
• New application notifications; configure NetGuard directly from the notification
• Display network speed graph in a status bar notification
• Select from five additional themes in both light and dark version

There is no other no-root firewall offering all these features.

If you like to test new features, you can participate in the test program: https://play.rumblerfh.cfd/apps/testing/eu.faircode.netguard

All required permissions are described here: https://github.com/M66B/NetGuard/blob/master/FAQ.md#user-content-faq42

NetGuard uses the Android VPNService to route traffic to itself, so it can be filtered on-device instead of on a server. Only one app can use this service at the same time, which is a limitation of Android.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I would love this app to have control over in/out with "hidden" apps as well, e.g. apps you have to search for in your settings but can't be placed on your homescreen. It looks like SOME core apps/processes show up, but my goal was to block a lot of google processes that I don't see listed. Gboard for example isn't showing up. Otherwise it does it's job fine, just not the job I was hoping to get done.

This app is awesome. I love the fact you can block system apps from internet access. I'd say 90 percent of the apps on a phone ( at least my phone) don't need internet access to function, especially apps that just connect to send your location. I really like the fact you don't need root access as I have a Samsung Fold and cannot root it without tripping Knox. There is no adds, and the premium features are worth the price to unlock them.

Worked well for about a week. then all of a sudden, no apps appeared on list except Bixby and Keyboard. Everything else gone. Turning on the setting to block all internet didn't work either. I have no idea if this is supposed to be an app that only works if you pay, but no help message on why everything just stopped. Basically no real value after that first week.

NetGuard shows the apps as Android lists them, so this is an Android problem! Given the time I have put into this project to help you protect your privacy, a 1* for this reason is rather disappointing. You should blame Android instead of the app! I'm always there to help as well, if you give me a chance: [email protected] <=======
